The Consequences of Dumping Oil Waste – Is This You?

He didn’t think anything would happen to him…

It’s been years that Jose has been dumping his business’s oily water waste in an empty wetlands area.

But last week he noticed something weird…

The drinking water wasn’t as clear as it usually is. It had a strange glossy texture that looked and smelled exactly like the oily water he gets rid of.

This didn’t make sense to Jose “Is the oil I’m dumping appearing in my drinking water?”

What many people, including Jose, don’t realize is that waste oil dumped illegally is a serious problem in Miami-Dade County because it threatens our drinking water supply (EPA).

Jose represents just one of the hundreds of people in South Florida who are still disposing of their oil waste improperly.

Not only can this contaminate our fresh water, wildlife, local economy, and natural resources, but oil dumping is considered a criminal offense and can be punishable up to 5 years and cost more than $50,000 in damages.

Help protect South Florida’s precious and irreplaceable nature! The solution is simple and easy: properly manage your workplace oil waste and report any violations.

Hi, we’re TG Oil Services

We’re the team behind the Don’t Be Spoiled awareness campaign. We are a South Florida oil service company that is certified, licensed, and trained to handle and transport oily water and used oil. After working in the oil industry for 25+ years, we realized that businesses and individuals are still dumping oily water and used oil in all the wrong places. Our mission is to spread awareness of the environmental and criminal consequences of mishandling oil waste as well as provide accurate information to save you time and money.

Don’t Be Spoiled wants to remind you that your daily choices matter – no action is too small. Even preventing a single gallon of oil can help save 1 million gallons of water. Source: EPA

Why is it important to hire a qualified service?

Your oil substance is your responsibility. If someone you hire disposes of it illegally you can be charged for negligence. Additionally, if the service is not properly trained it dramatically increases the already existing risk of spill by transporting and transferring oil.

Don’t Be Spoiled wants to remind you that your daily choices matter – no action is too small. Even preventing a single gallon of oil can help save a swimming pool the size of a football field.
